First Neurology Appointment
My neurologist is a robot. Maybe a cyborg is a better description because she looks and moves like a human.
Anyways, despite my neurologist seeming to be anything but human I tried to focus on the words I had to pull out of her mouth about what she thought was going on with me.
She ran a bunch of tests where she asked me to do things like walk around, close my eyes, sit and stand, and respond to questions about her touch on my fingers.
She said everything was normal and that they saw some scar tissue in my brain that along with my symptoms is a clinical diagnoses for migraines.
Okay, Oscar and I thought it was a relief. We can handle some more testing as she suggested. Surgery is off the table for now. That's good news, right?
She dismissed the Chiari when we asked about it and said it was "nothing."
She said that my numbness and tingling are probably pinched nerves in my elbows, my back pain and frequent urination are urinary issues, and that everything else is caused by intreated migraines. She ordered an MRI of my neck to make sure that the neck pain wasn't from a pinched nerve.
She referred me to a urologist and said when my blood work came through we could talk about preventative drugs and some pain relief meds. We didn't like this idea, but at the time my headache was about a 6, so any kind of relief for our upcoming trip sounded good at the time.
Almost as soon as we walked out I started to doubt that all my symptoms could be unrelated even though they started at the same time and are progressing in sync.
However, more imaging is always good and I felt that I needed to just trust the expert for the moment and not be stubborn about a diagnoses from the radiologists.
